Have you seen this Nitty Gritty?

Has anyone seen this particular model of Nitty Gritty before? I looking to get a record cleaning machine without selling an appendage. Anything has to be better than my brush and microfiber cloth.

I am still pretty new to vinyl (or at least to caring for my equipment and cleaning my records) so I may just not be familiar. But I have never seen a Nitty Gritty quite like this that is all wood grain with no black. It also has the logo on a square rather than oval plate.

Is it just a really old model?
If so, is it still a good deal for under $200
Is there a life expectancy on these things?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!

Well, I did send a message off to Nitty Gritty. I also got a response from the seller. He said it is an original "pro" motorized and released around the same time as Nitty Gritty 3.0. But alas, I was outbid on the bay at the last second. I might have to settle for a Record Doctor V.

I like the older, all oak models. I use one of the old 3.5Fi for most of my record cleaning; that’s it above.
As for life expectancy, it depends on how many records it has cleaned. Mine has done thousands - and it’s still going.

Allthings if you can get your hands on an older NittyGritty go for it. I had two 2.5FI and a NG made Record Doctor and all did a great job of cleaning records. Purchased both 2.5FI for short money needed a little work bought parts from NittyGritty and resold both at a modest profit. New TOTL NG models going for big bucks, older models should perform just as well. $200-$300 would be a screaming bargain for your pictured NG.

I saw that on ebay go for around $230. I had a bid in. I don't know how high the winner had covered, but the listing was sparse on details so I was reluctant to go higher.

Holy Moly..... I bought my Nitty Gritty about 15 years ago. I paid something like $200 for it brand new. I just looked at what they are charging for them now and literally spit my bit. I'd buy a Record Doctor V before paying that kind of $$$ for a new Nitty Gritty. That's just crazy!
 
All depends which model NittyGritty, from basic to totl, on average competitive with VPI, where you win is with preowned, besides Ebay check CraigsList and other sites. Also get familiar with all the models and price points. Keep in mind a RCM will be a lifetime investment.

Hey, I have an older Record Doctor, Love it. Unless there is physical damage to the record, cleans up a lot of the tics & pops.

It's basically the same thing as my old Nitty Gritty. When mine goes that's what I'll get to replace it. Oh! Here's a good hint for them both: ditch the brushes that come with them and use one of those edgers for painting. Perfect size, cleans better and you can replace the pads cheap too ;)

The NG units also expel air; my NG Record Master does the same as the EV-1 except the vacuum source is different, and there is no more “dust in the air” versus a NG as I perform my vinyl duty.

Thought those ran on a shop vac? I can't see my old Kirby doing it either (that thing is a dust bomb!)
