Haven't seen one go this high in a long time

You never know with Ebay lately..... Things that bring high numbers have been low. Items that usually go low have been going high! You just never know!

Purchased mine from ebay for $182 I believe...in fall 2012.

Interesting the amp pictured popped up on my facebook wall as a posting from the Vintage Kenwood HiFi group..

No surprise as Gary`s stuff usually goes for high dollar compared to average prices. One PL-630 he had went over $1k and a set of minty AR-4Xs hit $600.

the KR-9600' bring $300 to 500
I think a lot of people would rather have the 9100. It's an exceptionally clean example from a trusted seller. In the ebay history, I see one for $202.49+$56 (SoundsAlike?) that looks nice but with a poorly-put-together listing that must have hurt the bidding. A couple around $250 with some cosmetic issues. One for $331 in a wood case, VU lights out. All the rest of them were parts/repair listings.

Mine doesn't show up on the completed auctions any longer. Bought 8/21/2012 for $184.50 + 45 to ship from west to east coast.

I agree with the above concerning the KA-9100 vs the KR-9600. The KT-8300 tuner prevails over the KR-9600's tuner....

Highest price on Ebay UK for a KA-9100 would be around £255 ($410),purchased mine years ago for the bargain price of £70.It's a great sounding amp.

Nope, wasn't counting the KA-9150's,can't recall seeing the bronzed face TRIO UK release (or even a Kenwood branded KA-9150 release on Ebay UK come to that),must be supa rare.In fact all of last year,I didn't even spot any KA-9100's,and I tend to look daily.

I don't think there is one branded TRIO and I wouldn't call it bronze as much as... I dunno, grey? I think that one posted on AK as "bronze" is stained or was cleaned with something weird or something. Anyway, when I was buying a 9150 a few years ago (in the US), I checked ebay UK and they were just as common as 9100s then (but not in the US). The faceplate is supposed to look like this:

well ... I know have 10 of them in various stages, some of them will be making it to BT.
I just fixed 4 for a guy that wants to flip them on Ebay or CL (good luck with that)

I hate to part out units. But only the ones that are too far gone.
It is an excellent amp for the price if some time is taken and cleaned up, new thermal grease etc and misc caps, rebuild amp boards, cleaning, testing etc ...

My .02 ..
