HBO, now Max, going to license content to NetFlix

It is interesting to compare what was going on when this thread was started and what we have today. Paramount is looking for a buyer. Star Trek is for sale, Star Wars in dead, Disney+ continues to lose billions. Amazon is not doing much better with the content they produce. But with Amazon they have a buffer with inside subscription services that specialize in regional content. South Korea and Japan both produce movies and TV series that are better than all but few produced in the USA. while Rings of Power is so far a billion dollar loser they are making money from hosting these inside streaming services.

It is getting so bad that this is more entertaining.

Before cutting ties with Dish Network, I had a setup similar to your Discovery group—love those documentary channels! Now, I've streamlined with CuriosityStream and a few others like BritBox and Acorn TV for international shows. It's affordable and I get content I really enjoy. For those in New Zealand wondering about Hulu, checking out options like "can you get Hulu in NZ" might lead to finding shows that match your taste without breaking the bank.

YouTube rules them all. I watch YT only, download occasionally here and there, and buy used DVDs and BDs. I dumped my Netflix subscription last year - my favorite shows were pulled, and I did not care for yet another Stranger Things season.
