Yeah, gotta love those new "ventilated spider" surrounds! Must have cost a fortune in bits of duct tape, and quite a while to space them so well.! But who really cares about surrounds when these puppies are "ready for the digital age"?! That's the important thing! Or maybe it is because of the "surrounds" that they are ready for the digital age (?!?!).

Its worse than that Arkay, thats not duct tape, thats the cast basket you're seeing behind the cone. There are NO surrounds.

If the current bidder gets them for $.99 he only has to refoam the surrounds , replace the tweets ...OK , never mind. They were great speakers in their day and probably a smoking deal for someone who can/will fix 'em.

Great speakers no doubt, but if he plays them like that the cones will hit the far wall. (he does say they still sound great in that condition.........)

He may have tested them lying on their backs.

I bet the low end is, ah, transparent! Yeah that's it.

Oops! Doh! My mistake; you are right, of course. At least I got the "ventilated" part right! :D

Nice speakers, though -- those are identical to a pair of Magnats that I have; the Dahlquist drivers were made by Magnat. How he could say that they still sound good in their current state, I don't know... :headscrat

"wide open, unboxed-sounding"

Thats an understatement!! Maybe I should try to remove the surrounds on all my speakers. Really let em swing!!
