Head Scratcher

My brother was buying some matching # Cornwalls from a guy, (big Klipsch fan, has lots of speakers, apparently knew PWK), and at some point he said that it is possible to swap Cornwall crossovers into Heresys without modification in order to improve bass response. He said the drivers will go lower but the crossovers limit them. Truth or fiction, what do you say?

No. He is absolutely and completely wrong. The type B crossover for the Cornwall and the Type E crossover for the Heresy have exactly the same woofer section. So, it would make no change at all to the output of the woofer if you put the Cornwall crossover in the Heresy. But, the attenuation of the midrange and tweeter would be 3db less. So you would have the woofer working like it did before with the midrange and tweeter louder. Net effect is that it would seem you lost bass.

Next time don't hold back Bob, tell us what you really think! :D Somehow I knew that when I opened this thread, that one was going to get swatted out of the park.

Thanks, this is as I suspected. Even though I don't have the tech savvy to know exactly why, it certainly sounded fishy. I appreciate the info.
