Head shell question??

Hopefully some of you know the answer to this....having owned my table or just have the knowledge in your repertoire.

Much appreciated for your help!!!

I own a JVC QL-Y5F turntable. I would like to have an extra head shell for this table with mounted cart to be able to switch back and forth with ease.

Do I need the exact head shell from another QL-Y5F or do other JVC head shells work....if so from what model(s)?

Or is there an after market head shell that works as it should on this table?

Thanks!

I don't have that table, but from pictures it appears to be a fairly standard SME style headshell.

Any similar SME headshell should be able to be made to work. You will of course have to properly align it and rebalance the arm for the replacement headshell and cartridge.

Any SME type headshell will work.
Although I would find one that's close to the 11g recommended headshell weight so the factory weight can balance the arm properly.
Most technics ones without the 4g added weight won't work very well being too light.

I have been fortunate to find a NOS JVC head shell for a QL-Y5F....so that's about as good as it gets.

I am currently seeking a replacement headshell for my Pioneer PL-5 turntable. I've tried looking online but can't seem to narrow down my search in finding the right or proper headshell that will fit my turntable. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.
