Headphone jack Marantz 2252

One of my children was listening to my 2252 with headphones, and when he pulled out the headphones, he said something popped out with the headphone jack. Now we can't find whatever piece popped out, and headphones won't hold firmly in the headphone port, or play back with sound. I'm assuming it needs to be replaced, but don't have any idea how to go about itThanks!

You can do a search on eBay by typing in "Marantz parts". They used the same headphone jack in several models. Or, if you don't care that its original, and if there is room, just use a std. Open frame stereo headphone jack. The original has a plastic housing and can break if enough angled torque is used unplugging it. It doesn't take much.

You have to remove the faceplate to get to the retaining nut on the jack's barrel.
If you get an exact donor replacement you can carefully pull the pins out of the existing body,if they're not messed up,and avoid having to do any soldering/desoldering.

The closest I could find on ebay said it would match a 2252B. The seller said he didn't know if it would work on a 2252. Would you know if it's a match? Thanks!

It very well could be. Some B models had cosmetic differences only. Can you compare yours to the sellers? Another thing you can do is register at hifiengine.com. its free. Then download the repair manual for yours and the repair manual for the B model. The site will let you download 1 manual a day free. Once you have the manuals, you can then compare part numbers from the parts lists to see if they are the same.

They do seem to have different part numbers. But a visual inspection of the space around the original broken jack and the length and wire routing will tell if the other will physically fit. I've used the common open frame jacks in the past, it just won't look the same since it will not have the plastic ring around the end of the jack.
