Headphones for the C2300?

[onedrop78]

My wife wants to buy me some headphones for my birthday this year (big surprise). I suppose she figures that an audience of one is better for my late night listening sessions in our NY apartment. Well, I'm not letting her off easy with some lousy earbuds. Can anyone recommend a nice quality set of "cans" that work well with the C2300? I have been looking at the offerings from Grado, AKG, Sennheiser, etc. but I am not certain on the headphone amp capabilities on the c2300. For example, the AKG 702 are supposed to be a terrific headphone, but are said to require a sufficiently powerful headphone amp to shine. Budget around $200-250.

I have the 2200 and have the AKG701's. Many hour of listening pleasure!

Is the 2300's headphone amp any less powerful than my 40 year old Mac1500's? Because my AKG K701s sound awesome with it, as well as with my MA6200. I willl die of old age before I buy another set of headphones, that's how good they are (and they, too, were a gift from the Mrs.).

The 702s are essentially the same as the 701, so it sounds like they may be the ticket!
