HealthKit AS-10’s?

I’m looking at a pair of Heathkit AS-10’s locally in excellent condition. They have Jensen drivers. The driver placement looks very similar to my AR2’s. Almost identical. We’re these AR2 inspired? Anyone have these are knowledge of these? If so what are your thoughts. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks! Also I have a mint pair of AR2’s and I don’t need these speakers are my AR2’s a far better speaker?

I bought a pair of AS-2's this past spring. Didn't need them but the price was right and they were in beautiful condition. I was going to play around with an external tweeter and a AR2a crossover.

should be time and effort well spent.
so many options, too -- maybe find and refresh a pair of the vintage R/S or JansZen electrostatic tweeter modules

Funny, I just purchased a pair of these 2 days ago as well. Haven’t hooked them up yet but was gonna try and research them more so I was glad to see your post. Are the grills glued on? I still have to look and see if the woofers will need refoaming on the main I bought.

An easy upgrade is to drop the AR-2ax midrange in. No crossover change needed, though
it does require building a mounting plate. Turns the 2 into a 2x, opens the top end up a lot.

The AR-2 woofer is a cloth surround, should need no maintenance.

I had a pair of AS-105's and I liked how the sounded and the build quality was good along with the funky grill cloth.

I remember posting about them way back when and @mhardy6647 stepped in then like he did here with great information and visuals too boot.

Nothing to add to your questions but I'm going to say they probably sound pretty good.

There's a slot cut into the speaker case on all 4 sides that the cane grills are pushed into and it has staples to hold it in place. It's not a foam surround on the woofers more like an waxed cloth and they should be fine.

Thanks everyone for all the responses, based on the fact I already have a beautiful pair of AR2’s I decided not to purchase the Heathkits. Had they been half of the sellers asking price I probably still would of bought them, they actually may be still for sale so if the price comes down substantially I may grab them. Thanks again!
