Okay folks,

Since we harper on about the sound of our systems so much, thought it would be interesting to see where our hearing sensitivity lies.

So log onto http://www.freemosquitoringtones.org/ and go through the various frequencies and see what you can hear. May be then our future purchases will be better suited!

I can hear up to the 17.4Khz tone :scratch2:

I think that some of the buttons must be broken :D.

I'm out at 14K, which is a LOT better than I expected, seeing as I've had gunshot induced tinnitus for the last 30 years.........

This sucks! I'm 44, and can only hear the first two (to 10khz). Guess too many concerts and my HPM's have taken their toll!!

I can hear just over 16kHz and YES the TV sweep signal
used to annoy the H@LL out of me. Also have McIntosh
induced metal-dome tinnitus in the left ear.

Ones that skated thru life!! :)

with a head cold i could hear up to 18K. No wonder I'm so bloody sensitive to hi-fi equipment with a rising top end. Probably the reason why i like and own McIntosh

I could hear the 19khz signal but I'm not sure how acurate this test is. The 20-22 khz signals sounded the same and were louder than the 19khz signal?

I can hear them all and not at anywhere near full volume, something is amiss with this thing, at least on my end.

I made it to 16 khz. I'm not sure about 17 though..:scratch2:

Which given the way I listened to headphones and my car stereo I am truly amazed at. I am 40, listening thru computer speakers, do they go up to 20 khz?

That was a cool test, thank you...

Edit: tried it using my grado 325 headphones, and made it to 18khz... easy

19khz nowhere to be found though.:tears:

18K was it for me with no volume adjustments. Interesting what kids today develop to circumvent authority.

Man, Howie, you scared me with this post. I couldn't hear a thing.... :yikes: Then I realized my laptop was on "mute"....
15khz. I guess I should be lucky that I can hear at least that with all the shooting I did in my youth and not always wearing hearing protection.

I am sure we have some physicians on the forum who can talk about the impact of being male has on high frequency hearing. Compared to women, our curve up high descends faster and steeper.

Huh?

17.4 for me....

...Not bad for 38 :)

Is this why I can't afford Mcintosh? (I know I already own it, but afford it???)

I have a test record with a 20khz worble tone I was pleased to hear it but it was weaker than the rest due to 41 year old ears I had to up the volume a little bit but not much and it was easyer to hear with head phones than speakers.

Which makes me wonder...

...if my speakers on my laptop are to blame for not hearing beyond 17.4.

I made it to 18

My wife's voice must be above 18 because she says I never listen to her
