That's what I figured,,, its not too high, and not really that different L to R,,, Balance pot stays centered, so for as much run time this will see, its close enough!!!
I may be looking for an answer in search of a problem!!!
 
You could mess with the dif pair and resistors to get it closer, but it's not really worth the headache and time. Those offset numbers aren't that bad. I've seen worse and the equipment was still playing without issue. I've had a few Realistic integrated amps and receivers that used fixed resistors with DC offset around 20-30mv. The6 sounded and played just fine.
 
Thanks,,, I dont really need to mess with AA 1515,,, just figured I would try to recap it,,, for practice, as I was thinking of trying to replace "known noisy" transistors in the Sansui but it plays fine also... I recapped it about 10 years ago,,,
 
Unless those transistors go noisy, you really don't need to mess with them.
Usually you'll start hearing a hiss. I had one that was noisy in a Marantz 1060.
I replaced all of those same type in it. The second 1060 I had didn't have any noise, but I replaced them anyway since I had a bag of those transistors since they were cheap, and I was restoring it anyway. I still have a few left I think.
A recap should be all you need with the Heathkit. Can you get a picture of the phono board, or is it buried inside?

I honestly dont know which board has the phono stages in it!!! It may be the board with all the controls on it,,, or may be on the preamp board as its pretty big... However an AKer offered to send me parts lists for all the boards,,, He also offered to sell me a manual if he can copy some info out of it, but I told him to hold off as I may find as schem for it somewhere...
I'll tell ya more about the boards after I get the lists or find a schem!!!!

I have the Sui tuner fired up right now,,, That thing really sounds good,,, only amp I ever had where you can turn down the bass!!!

I don't have a 1515 but the phono preamps should be on the input preamp board, which is probably the board on which all the posh buttons are mounted. That's how my -29 and -2010 stuff is.

Jeez, in my last post, above, I somehow got he AR-1500 into my head so it may seem nonsensical unless the 1515 IS that way (which it probably isn't).
