Heathkit AS-1373 woofers need refoaming

My two 10" woofers on my AS-1373 speakers (Heathkit) need refoaming. I do not know the maker of the driver; it just say 401-182 8 ohm with 719309 (serial number ?). On the back on the cone there is a mark CP-5056 or CP-5058(not easy to read). Is it worth it ? What would a proper replacement ?

That's a Carbonneau built woofer. Knowing them, that should be a very standard dimension driver. Standard 10" surrounds should fit, almost assuredly.

The one thing you need to make sure to specify, is if the woofer has a flat-edge cone (the cone comes out to a flattened "lip" where the surround attaches) or an angle-edge cone (the surround attaches to the cone directly, at the angle of the cone). With that, you should be able to get the parts you need, with very little trouble.

Regards,
Gordon.

Just a follow-up about my repair. I found locally surround (3.50$) and dust cap (1.50$) and went ahead with the repairs after reading posts here about refoaming and watching the video at http://www.wooferrepair.com/faq.html (at the bottom of the page). I shimmed the VC with 35 mm film that I had nearby and used WeldBond as glue. My first experience at refoaming. The speakers sound better now :music:.
