I’m interested in a add from a seller close to me. The seller has a pair of Heathkit
AS-38’s for a pretty good deal. He mentions that that are the comparable clone to the JBL-88’s and gives references to the comparable drivers. Such as JBL woofers 123A rebadged as 401-133 (alnico magnet) the tweeters are JBL- LE20’s rebadged as 104-132 and ( alnico magnet). He also says the crossovers are JBL built and both woofers and tweeters are green in colour as per Heathkit drivers of the era. Now I’ve read that there are some upgrades to turn these into
L-100’s and if that’s possible then I’ll have a beautiful pair of L-100’s for a pretty good deal or do I leave them as they are.
Any input on these babies before I buy would be a great help. I have photos to show how great of shape they are
Thanks for any input
