Since the compound is only there to fill in the rough surface of the heat sink and the transistor, you use VERY Little on each device. A few grams will do a high powered receiver with 6-12 transistors fairly easily. You want metal to electrical insulator (mica) to metal connections not a blob of compound for the heat to have to travel through.
