Heaviest speaker find so far....

:whip::crazy::rant::eek::oops:

Seems to have degenerated into a pissing match about "my speakers are bigger than yours". The topic is about the Philips FB585 speakers I bought today and that they are the heaviest "I (me), personally" have acquired. Pretty sure I can impress myself with an internet search for "heavy speakers".
The title of your thread is probably the reason for this. If they don't read your first sentence thoroughly.

Yeah, sorry dude...... that seems to happen around here. Not sure if people can't read, won't read, or can't help themselves from trying to "one up" the OP.

In any event, I've never seen those before. Love the cast frame woofer and the overall build quality looks great. Enjoy !!

Fellas, this isn't about the heaviest speakers! This is about the heaviest the OP has found. LMAO, we're all chiming in with different speakers WE have or have found. I think we missed his point.

Those look VERY jbl (L100T, to me) and look very seriously built.

Watching with great interest.
Perhaps, but threads don't always go the way the OP intends. Sometimes they take on a life of their own.

$0.18 per pound. Nice.

The JBL crossovers have bypass capacitors...something like 0.1 or 0.01 uF. Easy enough to add once you get to the crossover rebuild.

Can you get a pic of the underside of the crossover?

Interestingly, the crossovers superficially resemble the L100T and L80T crossovers with a few less caps and one less resistor, and the round air coil has more turns of wire:

Heaviest? :rflmao: You haven't owned a pair of Peavey SP-2 PA speakers yet have you?

I see your SP2s, and raise you a Yamaha S4115.

Or a pair of the old Community fiberglass "egg" cabinets loaded with JBL E145s from the factory! :D

Regards,
Gordon.

I HAVE found the two I mentioned. My back is still occasionally reminding me of that. :D

BTW: There's another thread about these same speakers, right now. As I mentioned there, the drivers look a lot like the woofer from the JBL L100T (2214H- at least the frame looks the same), and the tweeter from the JBL LX-series from the 1980s, and the same mid frame used in many JBL and Infinity speakers in the 80s and 90s.

So yeah, looks like something was going on there...

Regards,
Gordon.
