Those look like they could have come out of "Starwars".:D

I fret at the thought of a couple of Piezzos per speaker. One is usually shrill enough. How do they sound?

I seem to recall Heco is a german brand. Can´t be sure, though. My Wanna try to google that, especially if you have a model number.

Yeah, it looks like the Death Star droid had relations with an Imperial probe, and this was the offspring! :D

Heco was indeed a German brand... much of their product was sold by Visonik (also known as Alphasonik in the US). They also made drivers for their own stuff, and for Kirksaeter as well.

Good stuff, for the most part!

Regards,
Gordon.

Heco is associated with Magnat, if I'm not mistaken, which also associates them with Dahlquist. Magnat makes driver for both of these that are fully interchangeable. Don't know about these odd looking beasts, but most Magnat stuff is of high quality, Heco perhaps less so -- I've seen some Heco speakers that look very budget oriented.

Show the picture to the folks at HiFi Centre. They've sold a lot of different products over the years.
Also check with Commercial Electronics. This looks like it may have been a commercial sound reinforcement speaker - molded cabinets and efficient drivers. Makes me think of the JBL Strongbox, but there's no way that's one of their designs.

Robbie The Robot...
lol!! Does look like a robot with it's mouth wide open.

I remember Heco's being sold up here in Vancouver many moons ago. Listened to some bookshelf 3 ways. Looked and sounded much like other German speakers: well-made, metal grilles, very neutral sound.

No,they're not a gimmick.Heco P120(the larger one with a 14" woofer measuring 914x500x407mm with 4 tweeters and 200w max.)and P115 (12" woofer and 826x450x356mm with 3 tweeters and 150W max.)came in 1982.The upper half can be turned sideways.
