Hello AK!

Greetings!

I have been scouring on eBay for a amp and speaker system for a while now, and ended up purchasing Harman/Kardon PM660 amp and Hartley Zodiac 300 speakers. I'm happy with the system so far!

I decided to say hello here on Audiokarma because this forum has been a great help with information regarding the equipment that I purchased.

Both the amp and the speaker output sound, but I think the amp needs work, however. (if this isn't the right thread to post this, I apologize and please redirect me to the right subforum for me to post this problem)

The first issue is that the H/K PM660 only outputs sound from the tweeters from the Zodiac 300's when only the source is selected, and I have to press tape monitor 1 function for the bass to kick in. I don't know if that's a power issue where the amp is not able to drive the speakers normally without the tape monitor function, but with very little information I could find, I thought the amp could drive these speakers.

The second issue is that when I turn the amp on, the speakers make a "pop" sound when the speaker system 1 is selected (where the speakers are connected). If it's not selected and I press the speaker system after the amp is turned on and wait a bit, it doesn't make the "pop" sound and everything is fine.

Everything else seems to work fine. I haven't tested the speaker system 2, the phono input, tape functions (except tape monitors), cap trim (I don't know what that does), and the cartridge (I don't know what that does either).

Any insight to how I might be able to address this issue is very much appreciated.

Thank you, and hello AK!
