New here. Found this place in a round about way. I have a non functioning Astron VS35M power supply I use for HAM radio. Was cruising around the Youtubes looking for help on how to fix it. Somehow landed on Shuksan Audio's channel. Then found Novalux, and AH-Fix-it. Went down the rabbit hole through a few other channels as well. Now I have a Mouser shopping cart of all the components I think I need to fix the control board on my supply.

Right now all I have for test equipment is a Fluke 87 V Max, a 902C, and a Peak Atlas DCA75. Though I'm looking to add a ESR70 when they come back in stock on Amazon. Plus who knows what else.

Apologies in advance for the maybe dumb questions I might ask in the future. :)

Thanks for your time

Eric

My Dad had a Pioneer stereo cabinet when I was little. This would have been late 70's early 80's. So SX 50 series or maybe 80 series. I kinda want to put together like an sx-550 or 580 now. Or something in that range. I remember it was all silver on the front.

Welcome to AK!

I too have a non-functioning Astron power supply in my basement. I got it years ago when a local Boscov's was remodeling, and decided to not sell car audio any more. It's a 12V 35A continuous 50A peak. I used to use it to power car amps when I was working on them. But I don't do many (any) anymore, and now the power supply is dead.

I built a Dim Bulb the other day. Ordered the parts to build a 200w 8Ohm dummy load and a set of capacitor discharge leads for the DMM.

There are a couple Pioneer SX-450's local. One has a bad power switch for $125. Think I'm going to pick it up and see what I can do with it.
