Hello from Calgary

Hello, all. AudioKarma pops up in almost any Google search for classic gear, and after investigating further, it seems like the place to be!

I have been an enthusiast since the early '70s, when a friend introduced me to hi-fi with his Sansui/Dual/JBL system. I have had a soft spot for Sansui and JBL ever since.

I am not an audiophile, just a music lover who wants music to sound as good as it possibly can. For me, that means classic gear. I currently have a Sansui AU-717 and TU-717, a Nikko CD player (and an Arcam with a dead output section), a pair of Rega 2 Monitors, a Yamaha DSP-E492 for surround sound, and a Vista Media Centre PC that I built for video/tv/etc.

So, greetings from Cowtown! I am looking forward to joining the fray!

Welcome aboard!

I must say, it's nice to have someone come along and introduce themselves before seeking free advice. There seems to be a tidal wave of new users who open with "Hi. This is my first post. My uncle gave me a Pioneer receiver that crackles when I turn it up. How do I fix it?".

Just had to get that off my chest!

Hi Kelley, welcome to AK! I also like to view myself as a music lover who enjoys listening to music.

Thanks, all! I'm glad to be here. I don't participate in many forums, but it is always nice to find people with similar interests.

Personally, I think that it is rude to jump straight into a community with a problem, with no introduction. Fortunately, I'm not having any problems with my equipment, at the moment, although I am always on the lookout for a dead TU-717 for parts. My amp is gorgeous, without a scratch, but, unfortunately, my tuner looks like it has been rode hard and put away wet, as my father would say (he was a colourful character).
