Thanks for the add. I'm just another old fart getting back into vinyl. I've been using this site to educate myself for several months now so I thought it was about time to get more involved. I'm a chef, trombone player, and former audio engineer. My budget is fairly limited, but fortunately, I am pretty good at finding good deals and doing a lot od my own repairs, restoring, etc. So far I have acquired a Dual 1209 in restorable condition. It didn't come with a cart or cover and needs a full removal and replacement of old lubricant that I have already started. Yesterday I picked up a Technics 1600 in very decent condition for 35 bucks. It has a busted cover but it's still usable and the break is in the back. Actually pretty clean but I haven't taken it apart at all yet. All the cables are in very good shape, only the size selector knob is stuck at the moment, pretty sure that's just old grease... Came with a pretty beat old cart and no stylus. It looks to be a Pioneer but can't see a model number. Either way, I'm guessing it needs replacement. I found a Pro-ject pre-amp for 35 bucks that should be here in a few days. It should be fine to help me get started I think. I have an older Yamaha amp and a couple of Proto-J monitor speakers. One has some issues but works. Hopefully, I can get those sounding good with a little tinkering. But that's my start! Looking forward to learning a lot here.

Welcome to AK from across the river in Fairfax. Thanks for the intro.
I have a dust cover and hinges I took off an old BIC table that was tossed out. It looks similar to a 1300 my oldest boy has. It's yours if it will work for you, I'll PM dimensions and send a pic if interested.
Lots of local people here on AK, a few of them are actually sane.

Wow, thanks for the offer! NO idea if it will work or not but heck i'd take a look at it for sure. Like I said, the one I have works fine, just has a couple of cracks and a chunk out of it on the back. I'd post pics but don't know how here.

Nice to have ya here, Tbone!
Merry Christmas too!
