Hello from India

Hi guys,
this is agasthya, a recent audio enthusiast from Chennai, India. I have a Technics SU-C1000 preamplifier and a SE-A1000 power amplifier connected to a pair of old NAD 801 4 way tower speakers. They were supposedly made when NAD was started in 1978. They have a rear tweeter and a switch in the bottom. I don't know what the function of the switch is as it doesn't make any noticeable change in the sound. Could anybody throw any light on this matter?
Thanks in advance
