Hello from Kansas City!

Hi all - 31-year old newbie from the Kansas City area (live on the Kansas side and work on the Missouri side) here. My previous analog audio experience is with my parents' all-in-one LP/Cassette/Radio system (couldn't even tell you the make or model). However I tend to be a "completist" when it comes to artists/bands I like and was getting tired of never being able to hear/own vinyl-only b-sides and bonus tracks, plus I kept reading about the superior sound quality, so I recently purchased a new Music Hall MMF2.2 table, vintage Yamaha CR-440 receiver (with phono stage), and new Grado SR225i headphones from my local HiFi shop (Vinyl Renaissance); no speakers as space (current setup is in the basement) and volume (I have a 20-month old son and a 3-week old daughter) are currently limited.

My music tastes are based on what my parents listened to and I discovered in high school: old/classic country (e.g. Marty Robbins, Johnny Horton) - and what I've developed through the years: indie rock (Andrew Bird, The National, Arcade Fire, Magnolia Electric Co.), singer-songwriter (Ryan Adams, Josh Ritter, Damien Jurado), alt. country (Neko Case, Whiskeytown, Lucero) and older stuff like Springsteen, Neil Young, and Van Morrison.

welcome! I used to sail a flying junior class sloop at Lake Jacoma back in 1970-71! pretty good memories of KCMO and the former Richards Gebaur AFB that was my first assignment.

Welcome!

I love that MECo album in your avatar; a modern masterpiece IMO (along w/Didn't it Rain)

I'm also a big fan of William Schaff, the artist that did it.

Thanks, agreed 100% on MECo, it was the second or third album I ever bought on vinyl and I made sure to get the first press that came with the bonus CD of Molina solo acoustic/demo versions of all the songs.

I'm also a fan of Schaff's due to MECo and Okkervil River. Did you pick up the coffee table book of all of Schaff's music-related artwork that Graveface Records put out last year? It came with a 10" of Molina tracks recorded specifically for the book (known as the "Autumn Bird Songs" EP). The "retail" version (as opposed to the Kickstarter exclusive version) is still available here: http://www.graveface.com/graveface-schaff.html
