Hello, Audiokarma people!

I'm from Berwick, Melbourne, Australia and I just recently signed up! Looks like a brilliant thing you've all got going on here - many a time I have googled a model number for a piece of equipment and have been sent to some really helpful stuff in here.

I have been playing around with electronics and hifi gear since I was about 5, and 15 years down the track it doesn't look like I'm going to grow out of it!

So yeah, thanks guys for making this forum great I guess! I'm looking forward to wasting/using a lot of time around here! :D

I'm old enough to remember when Berwick was nothing but open dairy country.
Next time you're around Hawthorn way introduce yourself to Tony McKay at Tivoli Hi-Fi. If you ever get involved in Nakamichi cassette decks and lots of other esoteric vintage stuff, he's your man in Melbourne.Also worth a visit is :- http://www.hifiexchange.com.au/ but phone first.
If you're hunting vinyl try Dixons Records at Blackburn a short walk from the railway station.

@Peter Walker - yeah, that wasn't too long ago! The suburban growth is mind boggling out here - it feels like you blink and a brand new housing estate just pops out of the ground!
I am quite a fan of Tivoli, Hifi exchange and such shops, but my specialty is bargain hunting. I love melbourne.gumtree.com.au and Ebay of course. And then garage sales and even hard rubbish can be great!
I love Dixons! I usually go to their Dandenong store - I was there the other day actually. Brilliant shop!

I've moved to Tasmania, beautiful place but full of bogans, well at least here in the North. There's only one audio/HT shop in Launceston and it's crap.
It's as if hi-fi was never really discovered down here so when I fly to Melbourne I visit as many used LP shops etc as I can. That and the odd trip to Hong Kong keeps me in touch with what's going on.
Anyhow, welcome again and I'm jealous you have easy access to Dixons. I've only encountered one other audiophool who runs massive Soundlab electrostatics from Halcro amps and top MacIntosh gear.
