I have a mixed bag of stuff, but I've recently gotten back into vinyl. I say, "back into", but I never had any good quality equipment, back in the day My folks did, but I just had a record player when I was a kid and then, of course, moved to cassettes. My sound for my PC is run through a Denon AVR with a couple of Paradigm speakers hanging off of it. My stereo in my office is a Marantz SR-48 MkII and Marantz PMD371 CD Changer running through a set of Pioneer CS-66G speakers. I just had a friend send me a Technics SL-220 turntable and he's been shipping me vinyl, but I'm waiting on a new cartridge for that. I've been digging into Prog Rock a bit, but my music taste runs through much of the spectrum.
Edit: Oh, and I just picked up a JVC R-S11 receiver for 26 bucks at a local auction that powers on, but I haven't had a chance to test it beyond that.
Your parents exposed you to it and the spirit lives. You have a decent system for listening and the PC system is way beyond those little desktop speakers. For my PC I use a Heathkit AA-22 integrated amplifier powering a pair of floor sitting Infinity 5000s, three way 12" from later 70s. Decent sound is addicting.
