Hello from Pittsburgh

62SY4

Its a Studebaker
I know, I know, it has been two years since I have joined. Life got in the way, at any rate, all my inherited equipment needs capped. I've done quite a bit of lurking over the past month or so, and even more reading. The link for the NEETS modules was very helpful thanks everyone for that thread. The first piece I intend to cap is my maggie console I ASSume it the filter caps making it hum loudly?

Welcome aboard 62SY4!

Where in Pittsburgh? I went to HS and College there in the 60s and 70s (please don't do the math!) and still go back to visit friends.

And yes, it probably is the filter capacitors that are causing the hum. I wouldn't plug it in or turn it on again until you replace them. It is likely to suddenly get very exciting if you do.

Thanks for the welcomes y'all! I'm 'bout 20 miles south east of Pgh, between McKeesport and Elizabeth, if that means anything to you. Oh and college? I commute to Pitt; I am studying Materials Science and Engineering.
