While my latest acquisition is the Meridan Explorer2 MQA DAC and a subscription to the Tidal streaming service, the assertion that one of the aims of MQA is to greatly reduce the temporal smearing caused by the A to D and D to A conversions has re kindled an interest in vinyl from analog masters.

I have an SL-1700 Mk2 with auto return mechanics removed and manual queuing components fitted. I previously fitted a Rega RB250 arm with Origin Live Mods but I'm over this now and am happy with the Technics arm. I also have a late model SL-1210 Mk2 which was only 3 months old when I picked it up cheep on ebay because it had a cutout in the rubber base to accommodate a Rega arm. I also have the second TT I owned an SL-1200 (Mk1) bought in 1973. I have been using a Dynavector 17D3 cartridge with the Dynavector P75 preamp in current input (Norton amp) mode and am currently doing a shoot out between the SL-1700 and SL1210 using the Dynavector cart and a Sure V15-3 with Jaco super analog stylus.

I use a Boston Audio graphite mat

I have a problem with the SL-1210 which I will post in the appropriate forum.

Other equipment
Denon AVR-3805
OPPO 95
B&W DM3000 speakers
