Hi everyone. I have actually joined about a year and a half ago, but have just lurked as I had no gear to speak of, just a yen for getting some. I have enjoyed reading the many excellent comments about vintage gear, and I envy those who got into this racket early enough to "score" some really nice stuff. While dreaming of finding a Sansui AU 717, I have eventually ran across a few of the "middle of the line variety" (e.g. Pioneer SX-3700 receiver, Sansui 881 receiver, BA-7's bookshelf speakers, Smaller Advent speakers, Braun Atelier combo, B&O 3006 speakers, Marantz 2220, Marantz 2230, and a bunch of lesser stuff I have given away. My favourite piece, probably because it was cheap, is a Yamaha CR-66 II (a black face sibling of CR-420, I believe). I have not attempted any upgrades yet, but I am going to try my hand on the Marantz 2230, since it has a short somewhere.

Welcome, nothing wrong with "middle of the line variety." Enjoy what you have and move up the ranks. Cheers!
