Im new to this site, so I hope some regulars here reads this and can point me in the right direction. I live in West Boca Raton South Florida. My dad just sent me a nice Onkyo that he found at a recycling center, about a year ago, in north Georgia that someone just threw out. He used it as a shop stereo and when I got it it was dirty. So after a long day at work I came home and took the glass off and cleaned the silver. Now I'm hooked. Tonite I took the cover off, cleaned the inside, needs another can of cleaner, and lubed the knobs and buttons. I'm into it and my dad finds cherry receivers all the time up there, but they are just junk old school shop radio receivers to him. So I'm getting more and more into vintage receivers. Any help on this specific unit would be great. I would like to see others posts on this unit, if anyone will post me links to them. Thanks

Thanks for the welcome. Strange thing saying my Dad He's 55 I'm 35. we grew up having thes vintage stereo's but passed them off over the years, for all the plastic crap they have now.

Welcome. You have one of the most under-rated vintage receivers ever. I bought one new out of high school and it's still on...right now! They sure are tough, beautiful and sound wonderful. I don't think I've ever seen 40 WPC sound so big.
Hope you have as much fun here, and with your new toy, as I do

This receiver is so sweet sounding. Cleaned inside and out. Warm feel and sounds as good as my plastic 2003 Sony big boy on the entertainment center. He asked me if I needed speakers, saying vintage speakers go at auction for like 20 bucks a pair and I said yeah......... I don't know. Now I need speakers for SURE! Only problem with this receiver is no stereo/tuned/locked lights coming on, and cleaning it I think i burned out the am/fm needle indicator light. Can't remember if it worked before or not. What does it cost to have a bulb like that replaced, and is it an easy DIY?
