Help a Piggie Out! Cosmetic Damage to Speaker Cone

Mister Pig

Pigamus Maximus
I had to take apart my Hawthorne open baffles to have a crack repaired in the hard wood. When the drivers were stored, somehow a woofer got something hard dragged across the cone. Got no idea how this happened. Speaker works fine, its just fracked up. I hate it when things are not the way they are supposed to be, so I am trying to find solutions.

Anyone got suggestions on how to minimize this eye sore? The drivers are a custom build from Eminence, and I think I can get a new Eminence dust cap and have a person who does recone work replace it. There is still a slight flaw on the paper of the cone itself, but perhaps that can be minimized.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I did lightly touch the scratch up with a black marker to see if it could be blended in, which is why there is a slight smear from a fingers on the cone. Sorry about that.

Regards

As long as it's mostly limited to "cosmetic" damage, might be best left alone. If the damage has weakened the cone and cap, then maybe a treatment is in order. Many people, including myself, have used super glue (not gel type) on the damaged area to restore some strength to the "wounded" areas. Many will apply for the back side so the discoloration isn't visible. Just one thought.

clear polyurethane dabbed on the cone, wax the dustcap. Not too bad. Luckily the surround was unscathed.

Well I did speak with a guy who does recone work, he lives about 3 hours from here. He has a supply of Eminence dust caps on hand, and can change the one out on my woofer. That takes care of the majority of the damage, and all I have to do is fade the scratch on the cone.

So far so good, this appears to be able to be solved without too much trouble.
