HELP! ADS L-710 -sticky dome tweeter-

Good afternoon AK - I'm picking up a pair of L-710's this week. These speakers have soft dome tweeters and mids (I read that they were made of a silk-like material). The domes have a very sticky coating and one of the domes is pushed in. I'm looking for suggestions on how to clean the domes and repair the dome that's been pushed in.
I did a quick search, but didn't find anything regarding cleaning and repairing.

Have you searched AK? I think I recall a thread that talks about being able to push them out from behind or some other technique.

Leave the sticky stuff on and don't clean the faces of the tweets. But you can, carefully, push the dent out from behind.

Thanks for responding - I tried the search tool - maybe I did something wrong - Ill try again. I'm picking them up on Sat, so I'll probably be chiming in again once I have them in my possession.

What he said. I stopped using AK's onboard search function long ago because of this. Nothing against AK, but their forum provider (or software or whatever) seems to go with the most-RECENT, remotely-relevant threads first (i.e., threads with the word "the" for example) instead of the MOST-relevant threads, and that's just a huge waste of time because you'll spent an hour looking through 20 pages before you even come CLOSE to finding the info you need.

And yes, isn't the sticky stuff part of the design? What's that for anyway? Dampening or heat-reduction of some kind? Or does it help to seal it somehow?

Before you take anything apart, try the old vacuum trick.

Take a paper towel tube, on the end of the vacuum hose, and try to suck it out. With the vacuum on, bring the tube close to the dome, but don't touch it. The suction might just pop it up. If that fails, then you have to take it apart.

The coating is there to damp the dome. DON'T do anything to it.

The L-710's came home today!!

I am completely blown away by these little speakers. I won them at an Estate auction for $65 bucks... WOW! The cabinets need work, but man they sound great...

Awright,I have some 710's too and I love them,You did very good for yourself.yea my soft domes are sticky too,think that is intentional.Congrats!!!
