Help! Altec crossover

I am purchasing a friends Altec Lansing 1218a's they are missing the crossovers trying to find then the ones that go in them are n809-a crossover. Is there any other model atec crossover that will work? Please help need to get these running to provide sound for a outdoes wedding reception.

If you could get a schematic you might be able to make your own crossovers.

Another option is to get an active crossover and an additional amp and bi-amp them.

Yes it is a stereo unit. It can handle up to 3 way, stereo, or 4 way, mono. You would be using it in 2 way stereo mode.

With that crossover, if you have basic measurement gear, you can dial in woofer delay to time align the woofer and tweeter and make sure the forward listening axis is where you want it.

It also has a "CD compensation" button which engages an eq which compensates for falling response as frequency rises occurring with constant directivity horns/waveguides. I believe a lot of people use that with Altec 811/511 horns. It is generic, though. Your model has an 811 horn.

I am currently using a Behringer DCX 2496, a more sophisticated model, on my Altec 9844-8Bs. Those also use an 811 horn.

I think it is very good bang for the buck.

You will need 2 stereo amps. I use an old Crown PS200 for the woofers and a Trends T amp for the horns. You'll be very happy with one of these if you need another amp for the highs:

Yes you are more than good to go. You will use a combination of the output pots on the crossover and the pots on the amps to get your balance between woofers and tweeters.

Parts express also sells the Eminence 800 HZ. crossovers that will work very well in your Altecs, for a little over 100 they are tough to beat.
