Help choosing power amplifier

Hi all!!

I'm not new on this forum but this is my first post, so if there is something wrong please excuse me :D

I'm in trouble because i cannot decide what power amplifier choose between these three:
- Proton D1200 (about 400 euros)
- Onkyo Integra M-5030 (450 euros)
- Advance Acoustic MAA 406 (500 euros)

My pre amplifier is an Onkyo Integra P-304, so what do you think will be the best coupeld power amplifier among them.

PS if it's not clear i go nut for the vu-meters :D

The Onkyo would be a good match. I would make sure to look inside and check the electrolytic capacitors for leakage. That amp is probably over 30 years old.

Thank you Mamrak1 for the advice. Unfortunately i cannot check the Onkyo inside, i could only ask for some photos while i could check the Proton.
In your experience it happens often this leakage of the capacitors in the Onkyo gear?
I'm aware that the coupling with the pre-amp would be good (same manifacturer) but i would like to know if, in absolute terms the Onkyo, overcomes by far the other ones or the are at the same level of performances.

I also put on the table the Technics SE A-1010 that i could buy for around 280 euros but i don't know if it can battle with the other power amps listed before.

Leaking electrolytic capacitors are not unique to Onkyo. A large proportion of 30 year old electrolytic caps have or will develop leaks.
 
Study the capabilities of your speakers. Know everything you can about them. If their peak capability is X then thats the size of amp you want. If they are rated RMS, then you want an amp with the peak capability 4 times that amount. The next question is the peak capability for the full range of the speaker? If not then you might want to reduce the available power. Then you have to ask do you want an amplifier with built in protection for your speakers? Yes, if chosen properly will guarantee many years of trouble free operation, no might end up costing you.$$$$$$$$$. On the other hand if you are careful it will cost you nothing. Its like playing roulette.
 
Biased here, save some money and buy small 'Tube" amp, the sound difference between Tube vs. SS is amazing, nay Heavenly,
try it, you'll love it.
With tubes, you do not need hundreds of watts___3 to 5 watts per side will do the job with reasonable speakers. Amen.

Adcom GFA-535 for about $100-$150 on Ebay. The voltage can be changed to 220-240 rather easily according to Adcom.

This is a great sounding little amp I really like mine.


This is how the voltage for the Adcom GFA-35 is done. The Adcom GFA-535 II is different and looks more difficult to change to 240.

I apologize for my rather harsh comment about E-bay____(still chuckling with your handle) I get it ____whew___moving right along.
I know you know, over the years most here, and Moi', bought bigger and larger, more powerful amps, ( being very phallic, right?)
When in the end, less wattage will do the job__and do it very well. IMHO____smaller, adequate amps will save___younger user big-bucks ( that is also called BB2, squared right?) lol
If this were a perfect world, everybody would start out with tube amps, and 'grow' their wattage with their needs, i.e.inferior, read, defective speakers.
I know you'll agree, lol

Thought the spelling was "ice-in-nine" or as__forget it. :)
 
The Yamaha amplifiers are very reliable and not priced badly, I have had my A-S500 for five years now, and it is a solid performer. The A-S301 might be a nice choice.
