Help Filing FedEx Claim - Proof of Value?

What was it's insured value on the shipping agreement contract?
See where I'm taking this?

I don't know what FedEx's wording is on their value declaration spot but UPS says:

"The declared value of your shipment indicates UPS's maximum liability for a package that is lost or damaged. UPS's liability is limited to US$100.00 (or local currency equivalent) on packages with no declared value. By entering a declared value and paying an additional charge, you can choose to declare a higher value for your shipment up to the maximum allowed in your country. "

I'm sure this isn't their lawyers first rodeo. It isn't an agreed on insurance value but a maximum you can go after them for.
At least with FedEx packing the shipment they shouldn't be able to blame it on bad packing but I once had UPS deny a damage claim where they bent a trailer hitch. They said it wasn't packaged well enough. I asked "You bent 1/4" thick steel, how thick of steel would I have had to package that in to protect it"

Today I received a check from FedEx for the full insured value + shipping cost. I'm happy about that, but the one thing they didn't do is refund the cost of their packing. I suppose their horrible packing job is nonrefundable so WATCH THEM PACK YOUR STUFF and say something if it looks bad!

I just received a check for full claim plus shipping as well. I'm somewhat stunned.

Fedex insurance are good and reliable. UPS insurance is terrible and extremely bad. UPS claim usually make your vintage item change from repairable to totally junk piece.

Did FedEx allow the buyers to keep the items, or were they beyond repair?

Mine was beyond repair. It had such an impact that the cabinet joints came undone and the front baffle broke apart.

Edit: They didn't request it, either, same as @Pio1980

And I've had great luck with USPS insurance. 5 or 6 claims, $385 the highest, but they always paid. Lucky, I guess.

Yeah, USPS claim was a breeze. Did it online. Took a screen shot of the ebay listing and attached jpg to the claim form. It had stopped tracking en route (fell off the truck or five finger special?). From claim to check was one week. I claimed $59.99 but got the max $50. And they refunded the shipping cost. Close enough. Luckily, my customer was understanding from the start. I made sure to take care of him.

If you buy the postage through ebay, the insurance is doubled to $100.

Good to know. I just started using ebay postage. Unfortunately, this shipment was before I got this printer.

Maybe their add on insurance is better. With their 'included' insurance on Priority Mail shipments I've twice had items not get delivered to the right address and they deny the claim because the package was scanned as 'delivered'. I even had Video of them delivering one box when they said I got two and their response was 'maybe he delivered that one to the mail locker on the street'.
