Help for 8-Track Repair

I know that 8-track tapes are not highly popular, but I have a Realistic TR-883 unit that still works and plays, but needs some work done for optimum operation. I was wondering if there was anyone that knows of a reputable person that can service the 8-track units. A friend of mine gave me a tape the other day that has some good material that I wanted to listen to, so that's what prompted me into looking into getting it fixed.

Any help would be appreciated.

There's a fellow who goes by 'Barry's 8 Track Repair" (no affiliation). He does restoration (tear down and rebuild) of most units. I have no personal experience though.

My experience is that most 8 tracks are pretty simple, and respond well to clean, lube, deoxit, and a fresh belt.

If you are handy, you can do this work yourself, and ask questions here, if you get stuck.
