HELP I don't know what model my Ford record player is.

I got this as a gift for moving a friend of my mothers a long time ago. I just really wanted something to listen to my Pink Floyd vinyl to. Now I'm curious as to exactly what I have. Helpppppp!

Looks to be a BSR from the looks of it. Maybe a search of the Vinyl Engine website will help you match the model by appearance?

Oh the TT is a BSR no doubt. It's one of their most universally common late 60's to mid 70's changers. It appears on a vast selection of all-in-ones and consoles of the time by various mfgrs. It's quite robust actually and if its old grease didn't freeze solid or fossilize, it can function reliably through the decades. It's still clunky and noisy as hell and the control levers would make it skip with each slide. I think it's using the BSR ST-16 flip stylus (Osmium/Sapphire) and the TA has some minimum of 5g VTF. If that's the case I wouldn't let my Floyds spin on that one. Some later versions may accommodate a standard 1/2" mount cart. Not sure this one does.

Sweet! So realistically, if I wanted to sell this to potentially get a newer player, what/where could I sell it at?

That one probably tracks at 2 grams or so. You can tell it has a later, smaller cartridge and those usually tracked at a much lower forces than the earlier ceramic cartridges.

It sure needs cleaning. If you were to do that and install a new stylus into it, it wouldn't hurt your Flink Poyd records.

This is a heavier tracker than the 1967-1968 Philco consoles with VM changers were, my grandmother owned one of those.

And ya, I'd agree ... the table should be fine for just spinning old records you don't much care about, but I'd be think twice about playing my favorites on it ...

PS ... still got the changer spindle? You can grind em up even more using that! <G>

It looks to have the slim headshell that uses the Tetrad cartridge. Tracking force range is usually 3-5 grams for those.
