Hi,

I can get the speakers from the picture for $100 locally. The owner says he cannot ID them. He says they have black grilles. From the photo I see the woofer might be Alnico but not sure.
The horn - I have no idea what it is ;-)
Looking for help ID-ing these and "dollars & sense" advice.

Tweeter does look to be EV, but i'm going to go with a CTS or equivalent woofer as was so popular with mid-cost setups. Only way for me to know for sure is to see the back, others may be better at IDing the woofer.

Judging on eBay prices - the horns and woofers themselves (if they are indeed d130) are worth a few $100s. Good news!
 
Update on my story with these speakers.

The seller recently dropped the price to $50 so I decided to pull the trigger on these. What I got is apparently a custom built "spinoff" JBL c36 speaker.
The cabinet is built very well out of thick, stained + clear coated plywood following original c36 dimensions. There are legs on the bottom allowing for vertical speaker tilt.

I pulled the back of the cabinet and found:
* JBL D130 woofers
* EV TW35 horns
* EV Wolverine CR35 crossovers

Overall - I am happy with the purchase. Hooked them up and they sound good with my test amp. Very forward sounding mids, good level of detail overall. After I clean up the crossover pots - I will give them a try with my Sony STR7065 and Scott 388B which I believe will be best match.

I dug a bit into the c36 clones research. Apparently this was a thing many people did back in the day . The EV wolverine CR35 crossover + TW35 horn were apparently sold as a kit to build ones own speakers. Interesting read overall - most info can be found on lansingheritage page.

@BillDurhamB That's what I did! They are already in my garage awaiting crossover pot cleaning. ;-)

Sound very good with my test amp (Nikko sta-5010) but I am expecting more when paired with one of my more vintage receiver - Sony STR7065 or especially Scott 388B.

Wondering if I should attempt to build a clone of JBL N2400 crossover for these instead of regular wolverine.
