I have what I presume to be a 16mm projector speaker cab made by Northern Electric. I can't date the cab precisely. It is a 10" speaker. The speaker has stamped on it "D101_122" and the cone "RS-447_A"
D101 was a speaker code used in the very first year (1946) of Lansing Sound, Inc. (JBL), but I could find no reference to a speaker similar in design to this one from JBL, nor a 10" model.
Northern Electric was the Canadian equivalent to Western Electric, producing and manufacturing products to western electric specs and using western electric patents. That said: western Electric, when commissioned to produce theatre sound systems for MGM, pruchased the drivers from Lansing in the 30's.
More similar in design (the welded together tube housing at least) are some speakers currently on Ebay Labelled as RCA but with western electric patents. LINKED HERE
