Help Identifying a JBL driver

Hey, so I recently got a driver that claims to be an LE5-6, however it very clearly isn't. The only thing it has in common with my other LE5-6s is the casket and labelling on the magnet. The cone and dustcap appear to be completely different. It also reads an impedance of 7.4 ohms, roughly .7 ohms higher than my other two LE5-6s. It also sounds very different. Was wondering if anyone had any insight?

The seller claimed it was from an audio repair shop and was a refurbished driver from JBL but I doubt that.

My guess is either a second party, or different le5 series recone kit.? The W5735 may help identify.

I tried looking that up and haven't found anything yet. I think it's weird their impedance is different too. I was thinking maybe 104h-2 but even those are closer to 4 ohms I think.

W5735 is an old Waldom aftermarket cone number. That has been reconed.

I'd guess the difference in sound, is likely that it no longer has an aftermarket voice coil that doesn't have the same characteristics as the original- that makes more difference than the dust cap IME.

Yeah, I figured the different voice coil would be responsible for any differences.
 
The only difference between factory LE-5s is the voice coil and the dustcap. Oh, and the magnet.
A proper LE5-6 would have a round wire coil and an aluminum dustcap. That is definitely a recone.
The current MWA LE5 kit is correct for LE5-6,8,10,12 except for the dustcap. I picked up a few proper dustcaps a while back, but I only use them on speakers that I have re-coned.
