Help identifying Advent speakers

Completely new to this forum and know nothing about speakers. Hoping there’s an expert out there that can help me. A friend gave these ///Advent speakers to me from his late father’s estate. No one bought them at the estate sale. I reviewed old postings in the forums and looked at eBay listings but haven’t been able to identify the model. They are Jensen era speakers with the white label on the back but the label doesn’t designate the model as I’ve seen on some of their later speakers. Behind the screen the word advent is to the right of the tweeter as on the legacy model. Hopefully the pictures will upload correctly. Any help is very much appreciated. Thank you!

The look like my Advent Legacy II. If the woofer is an 8", it may be a Prodigy. Can you give us the measurements of the cabinet, H x W x D, and the woofer?

Oftentimes that is the easiest way to identify the Advents because there are several models that are similar but differ only in dimensions.

The dimensions are 22” tall by 13” wide and 8.5” deep on the cabinet. The woofer was around 8” across.

Lots of Jensen Advent queries lately.

You have the original version of the Prodigy bookshelf speaker.
That's the 8" Advent woofer.
Note the difference in driver spacing between the Prodigy and the larger Legacy (with 10" woofer).

I haven’t found a prodigy pic with the advent name to the right of the tweeter though. Every pic I have found shows it underneath the tweeter.

I agree with the woofer measurements but they seem big and heavy for a bookshelf speaker. They are taller than my knee. I guess it might be a large bookshelf speaker. Thanks so much. That is very helpful.

My own searches also failed to locate any decent pics of the original version.
The version you're describing here is the Prodigy II.
In a previous post, I included pics of the several Prodigy variants:

By "bookshelf" standards of the day, the Prodigy was fairly modest in size.

Do you know if the original prodigy was shorter than the later versions? My cabinet is 22” and the online examples that I have found state they were 28”.

I think you just answered my last question. Thanks again.

I found an April 6th 1986 New York Times article that backs up your claim. It gives the dimensions of the prodigy speaker and it’s the same as the dimensions that I measured today. So the original prodigy is 22” high and then the later prodigy tower becomes 28”.

Check out my post #7. It provides a link to the 1988 Stereo Review Buyers Guide, page 139.

As much as I always enjoyed Stereo Review's annual hardware roundup, I would offer a caution regarding the veracity of the Buyer's Guide.
Info was often incorrect or incomplete; the 1988 directory refers to the Prodigy as a floorstanding speaker, while the 1990 list includes the Prodigy Tower specs, but Prodigy II (bookshelf) specs don't include cabinet dimensions.
Even so, a nice overview of the state of the art when stereo was still a big deal.
