Help identifying TT

I recently inherited an antique Sylvania tubed stereo console. I'm told my grandfather bought it in 1961. As far as I know, everything is in working order...but it hasn't had a cartridge or needle in years. The problem is, there's nothing on the turntable to tell me what it is. There's some serial numbers on the bottom, but that's all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Definitely VM. With the numbers on the bottom, Gary at the VM site can get you a manual and cartridge info. If the original cart is missing, you could put a modern magnetic on it ( if you can find one that tracks at 4-5 grams) and add a small preamp. That would gove you the best sound and needle availability. Good chance it will need to have old gummy lube cleaned out, and relubrication of the motor. don't get any oil on the trip mechanism.
