Help Identifying Vintage Frazier Loudspeaker (1950 or 1960?)

Hello Sports Fans ... I could use some help identifying this vintage Frazier loudspeaker and any info on how they were used and if they have any application today such as converting them to be used with vintage guitars etc. Its built out of wood, including the top speaker horn, and is very heavy and solid. Internal components shown are accessible thru a 12" x 10" cutout in the back of the speaker. They look new as the day the speaker was built. The cabinet may have been customer build to hold the speaker as it simply slides out and is not fastened down. Really neat piece. Measures approx. 28" H x 23" W x 16" D. Hope to hear from the community.

Yep that be a Dixielander- one of Jack Fraziers best efforts! I am surprized that Paul Klipsch did not integrate that design into some of his work, they collaborated often on designs.

Is there a serial number database to determine if mine is an early or late model or can this be estimated based on the caps?
 
Nice. Definitely a hi-fi speaker, not for use with a guitar amp.

You have a pair, or just one?

I have just recently become a Frazier owner and have been trying to get as much info as possible on the brand. I have not seen any database but the F.U.G. thread (Frazier Users Group) located in the Klipsch forum has former workers from Frazier and will be the greatest source of information for what your looking for. I was able to get alot of specs and history on my Frazier speakers.
 
I haven't seen alot of pictures of the Dixielander, and never one in person. Do I have this right, its the speaker in the box that is the Dixielander, the box is an aftermarket enclosure?
 
Someone fit it inside that cabinet, here is what they look like from Frazier.

Yes. The Dixielander is literally sitting in this vintage custom built cabinet. It just slides out. This protected the speaker from the elements for all these years which is in part the reason it is so clean.
 
Funny that they stuck the Dixilander in that larger cab. I assume this must have been in a home and the lady objected to the matte black industrial looks...

A few members here have or had the Dixilander as a bass bin. Search for it and they might be able to give you some more info.
