Help!! KLH Model Six refurb/ schematic question

I am refurbishing my KLH Model Six speakers. I have already had some help here on AK, but there is a lot (I mean A LOT) of information on this topic.

So, here is my current question.

I have the schematic that came with the original product information (attached). I also found a posting that made a lot more sense to me (also attached).

THE QUESTION: Can someone tell me if the 'for idiots' picture below will work for my model six recap? Are the schematics essentially the same?

I have recapped one speaker already, but the tweeter only works when the toggle switch on the back is in the full 'increase' position. SO, I think I am going to have to go back in and review my work. P.S. Is there any reason to replace that toggle switch?

Any help would be great.

I would:
1. Double check your wiring and connections.
2. Spray toggle switch with contact cleaner.
3. You can also bypass.

Check to make sure the little insulating washers are in place. I could be grounding out on the aluminium plate.

The 17 cross-over is just slightly different than the Six cross-over, but is identical in the tweeter circuit. The Six has the 0.4 millihenry inductor in series with the woofer where the 17 woofer is direct connected to the terminals. This was probably a cost cutting move by KLH on the 17's.

I added the inductor to a set of 17's and gave them away to my son who lives in another town. I wish I had the opportunity to use them for a while to determine if it provided some mid-range improvement. (Note that the 17 is already great in the mid-range.) The addition of the inductor should have cut-off the highs so the woofer wouldn't be reproducing mids/highs into its' breakup region which is typically undesireable.

I did get them all rewired. As a matter of course I replaced the original toggle switches with spdt new switches. I didn't think the originals were anything special. I'll be writing up a summary of my KLH Model Six refurb soon.

Your drawing on the left does not look right to me.

Signal comes from the RCA to three parallel components: 2x 2 uf caps an a 3 ohm resistor. So far so good.

The other end of one cap to NORMAL, the other end of the 2d cap to INCREASE. OK.

The downstream end of the 3 ohm resistor should NOT connect directly to NORMAL but to a second 3 ohm resistor, and the other end of that second resistor goes to NORMAL.

Trace it again and see if I'm right. I stopped there, so there may be additional problems downstream.
