Help Marantz Equipment

Leda

New Member
I bought a storage unit that had some Marantz Stereo equipment and have no idea how to hook it up. I need help with the AMP and the strange plug on the speaker.
Is there a schematic somewhere that would explain hooking up these strange animals somewhere?
Where might I find a needle for the turntable as well?

Thanks in advance
Leda

Marantz Model 15
Legendary for its sound quality. It's a straight amp needs a pre-amp to produce sound. 60 wpc
The Marantz 2250B is a receiver therefore it has an amp, pre-amp and tuner (AM & FM radio) all in one chassis. 50 wpc
VN35HE is the replacement stylus for a Shure V15 III cartridge. The HE suffix signifies a 'hyper elliptical stylus' (excellent quality).
Replacement available here....

For now you can connect the turntable to the 'phono' input on the 2250B and the speakers to 'Main'.

I have the AMP. Where does it fit in the chain of "connections"?
The JBL L200 speakers have a funny plug (last attached).
Also, any idea what this SONOS thing might be (attached)?

The Model 15 is a power amplifier. You need a preamplifier to use it.
The 2250B may have pre-out and main-in jacks on the back. If so, you can pull the jumpers and decouple the preamp and tuner section from the amp section. Then use RCA cables to connect the model 15 power amp to the pre-out jacks. NOT the main in jacks. This will allow the preamp section of the 2250B drive the model 15 amp. Its not really worth the trouble though since the 2250 is 50 watts per channel, and the model 15 is 60 wpc. You won't hear the difference in volume.
If that model 15 hasn't been restored, I wouldn't use it. Especially if one or both bulbs are burned out. They're part of the bias circuit.
They are worth some $ even unrestored though.
I had and restored a model 16 power amp years ago. Both the model 15 and 16 are nice sounding power amps when properly resrored. They're acually two mono block amps bolted to a face plate. One has a short power plug that plugs into the other to power it. Marantz also sold small face plates to be able to use them as individual mono amps.
Here is a link to everything 70's Marantz. You can get info on all preamp, tuner, amp and receiver models by clicking on the model number.

A couple of things the Model 15 is an Amp what is the additional unit you're referring to as an "AMP"

The cartridge is a Shure VN35HE and has nothing to do with Marantz they were 2 separate companies

Schematics are for repair purposes, you need to search for owner/user manuals

What's your plans for all these units?

Some clarification would be helpful, regarding your speakers. Your list references JBL L200, but the photo shows the 3-prong Euro-style connector of a (much smaller) Linn Sara loudspeaker. Perhaps the original cables were part of your package deal.

That looks like a stereo amp also.
Your last picture appears to be the back of a Linn Sara Passive speaker; it requires a custom cable/connection that runs from the connector (where you have the yellow arrow) to an amplifier, the connection at the amplifier end are banana plugs.
