Help me choose: Sansui vs. Sanyo (Receivers)

Hi,

I have two receivers: a Sansui 661 and a Sanyo 6000k and was trying to choose the best one to use in my budget set-up. Only other consideration is that I will be using the built-in TT pre-amp in whichever model I choose and be running two (TBD) Wharfedale bookshelf speakers.

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.

Ya I just moved across the country ...Trying to figure which one to ship out!

In that case then I would ship the lightest one which would probably be the Sanyo. If it was me I'd leave both receivers behind and pick up something a lot better where your new home is. That can be done no doubt for equal or maybe less money than it would cost to ship either unit across the country.

Overall, Sansui seems to have consistently better build quality than Sanyo. Cannot say that for certain things. Like, in that line, I did not really like the FM tuners, but if the US goes the way of a few European countries FM will be a moot point and I - without looking - can almost guarantee the amp in the sui is better built.

I've been using a Sanyo quad unit... DCX3300KA... for about two years and really like it. I know Sanyo doesn't get many accolades around here but this unit has been a great one that I use every single day. I agree with the first reply... plug 'em both in and see how you like the sound from each .. and go from there.

Having two nice receivers is a great PROBLEM to have!!

The Sansui is the superior receiver of the two. In every department.

The Sansui 661 is a awesome receiver and is built very well. That would be my choice.
