Help Me Identify This Shure MT-100e stylus.

I just purchased what is being billed as a NOS Shure MT-100e cartridge. From what I can tell, there were two different MT-100e's offered, one with a black body and one with a light green body. If everything holds true, this being the former, it is supposed to be equipped with a N75ED Type 2 stylus. If that was the case, I was going to unload that as NOS and pick up an after market stylus that would work better with my medium mass tone arm. Now, looking at the pictures, there is no model number on the stylus. Can anyone identify it for me. I have a feeling that the N75ED might have already flown the coup, but I am a cynic.

It is a M 75 EJ T2. Tracks 1.5-3 grams tracking force. .4 x .7 mil elliptical. A very good cartridge. Does accept all M75 stylus options. I own several of these cartridges.
 
The N75EJ type2 has a light green stylus grip.
The brown stylus grip is on the N75EC. Same elliptical shape (.4 x .7 mil) but tracks at 2 - 4 grams so it should be fine with your tonearm.

I was going to say the same thing, but there was another thread, maybe by the OP who stated the grip was red, not brown. Looks brown to me.

I appreciate your information. It's good to know that it will work for my arm. I guess I didn't do all that bad at the end of the day.
 
It definitely looks the same colour as the N75EC stylus, a 0.4 x 0.7mil stylus tracking at 2-4g. However, that normally has 75 and EC printed in small letters below SHURE - in fact, all of the genuine N75 styli usually have their numbers printed on the front. That doesn't mean that all of them do, though - there may have been a few batches which didn't, and perhaps on cartridges with different non-M75 designations, they left it off.

That's interesting. Do any aftermarketers print the Shure name on their products? Seems like that would invite lawsuits. It would be a real bummer to have ordered a NOS in the box cart and have had the seller take the original and give me a generic stylus. I mean, it's not like I have a ton of money involved in the purchase, very little actually, but it is the spirit of the thing. Anyway, thanks for the info.

After-market manufacturers don't print the Shure logo on their products but Shure was OEM for other entities that put their own name and logo on the cartridges. Playback and Realistic are two that come to mind. Shure also customized some of their cartridges for certain retailers but maintained the Shure logo. Your cartridge appears to be one of those.

The black plastic housing and clear stylus guard are identical to the Realistic R25EDT and R47EDT...
