So I have these speakers and horns I pulled out of an ugly Maggy console about 7 years ago.

They have just been sitting in a box in my garage. Recently I thought it might be fun to use them to make a set of Open Baffles. The problem is I have no knowledge of crossovers or how to wire them. I see that Parts express has a variety of reasonably inexpensive 2 way crossovers available. I wonder if anyone can help me figure out if any of them might work.

The speakers are 12” with a flat square magnet marked Magnavox 581206-1 137 244
The horns are marked Magnavox 580069 1 rp-109 07486 220238
I don’t expect these to be great but since they were just sitting in a box I thought why not ... it might be fun

A passive crossover might be the way to go, that way you can discover what values work best.
 
so it turns out this project is probably dead before it gets started. I grabbed my meter as suggested by Katalyst. I measured the speakers at 3.6Ω and then grabbed the horns, one was missing one of the solder terminals looks like I might have been heavy handed when removing from the console. So l tried measuring the other one, no reading, Nothing, Zip, Zilch 0.0 . I figured i would pull off the the green plastic cover and see what was underneath. Well I'm not sue if i just did when disassembling but the 2 super fine wires that went from the terminals to the little dome were broken. I can't imagine how to repair that. The wires are finer than the hair on my 60 year old head.

any Ideas?
 
Take a couple pics of broken wires and horns. Someone might help you. Maybe a crimped conductive ferrel could repair wire. Wait for more ideas.

The woofers by themselves will get you started. What amplifiers do you have? A small t-amp will be safe to try them on. At 3.9 ohm be careful the amplifier you hook them to.
 
They are probably 4 ohm woofers, or maybe 6 ohm. The DC resistance will usually measure somewhat lower than AC impedance which is how speakers are rated.

The rp-109 is a pretty nice horn for what it is, as I recall. Hope you can get them working. The one with the broken terminal, you might be able to Superglue, hot glue, duct tape, or otherwise reattach.

You should be getting infinite resistance, not zero, on the one with broken wires.
