Help my first recap - Harman Kardon HK775

This may be my first post here, but I just found a pair of HK775 amps, brought them up on a variac and one of them sparked and smoked from the cap at the center of the driver board, C430 on page 11 of the technical manual. I bought a recap kit on ebay and am about to start in on it. I'm not an expert at this, just an enthusiast, so looking for any advice as to why that cap might have that symptom. Anyone encounter something similar? with thanks.

Sparks and smoke usually indicate a short somewhere. That is rarely in a cap. So, if you just replace all the caps and turn it back on, you are very likely to have a repeat problem.

You'll need to diagnose the unit before recapping or before powering on after the recap. Get a copy of the service manual, identify where the sparks and smoke came from, work out (using the schematic) what part of the circuit smoked... and let us know as you pursue this. AK is very good at helping with just this kind of project.
