Help!! My Maggies are making reading impossible!!

Happy New Years to all!
I had retired my MGIIIa's to the upstairs bedroom to make our living room more visitor friendly for the holidays, and put my Allison Two's into holiday service. After close to a month of listening to the Allison Two's I have the utmost respect for their smooth, silky, precise presentation, and their robust bottom end. They were also very conducive to providing music to read to, and I managed to read several novels over the holidays.
Yesterday morning it was time to reinstall the Maggies and the 2nd power amp. They are actively Bi-amped with 300wattts RMS to each bass panel and midrange panel/ribbon tweeter, and really sing! So much so that the startling realism they produce makes it difficult to read when they are playing.:thmbsp:
After setting them up, it was time to start my 2009 reading, and trying as hard as I could I was continually distracted from my reading by the presentation even at low to mid levels. It's great to have them back, but I now know that a tube system will be needed to drive the Allison Two's in the living room when I move the main system and the Maggies to the downstairs when completed. (I will start slinging mud Sunday, so the move is not to far off!) Does anyone else enjoy this problem, or am I the only one

Nope, same problem. (although my system is not nearly at the level yours is) Maggies are the main contributor to my ongoing illiteracy.

You might want to try reading with the music turned off. It is not a distraction that way.

As an added benefit, you may find that you enjoy the music more when you play it if you don't try to use it as background music all of the time.

Typically, I only read while listening to music if I am reading about something related to the music. Lately, I have been reading a book about the great pianist Horszowski, and I tend to play his music while reading. I also read CD booklets while listening to the relevant CD. As for other things, I read without listening to anything. It works better that way.

You missed the intent of my post! I can still read and often do with no music on, but I can multitask. My post was meant to illustrate the quality of the presentation, not fault it nor my reading ability. The Allisons are very good speakers, but the Maggies bi-amped are magical! I rarely listen to music as background material except at work. FWIW
