Help needed on a Dual CS-505-1

Hi,
I've acquired a CS-505-1 from a friend a couple days ago.

The TT would not start at the beginning, the switch was stuck.
I put the TT apart, cleaned everything underneath, fixed the switch, had the Ortofon cartridge, the Dual TKS 49 S, with the Dual stylus DN 149 S off the tone arm, cleaned all connections and put everything back together.

Now the problem is: I have normal sound on the left channel and some very very faint sound from the right channel.
and...
There is no strobe light to adjust the speed...

Questions:
1: Is the stylus right channel broken, or
2: are the connections on the cartridge holder broken, or
3: are the connections from the shell broken,
4: do I have to change the whole cartridge with stylus, and if so
5: where can I find this type of cartridge, the Ortofon made Dual TKS S
This cartridge holder is held by one screw located on top of the shell

Also, I would like to lubricate the motor bearing, but it appears to be sealed, am I right???

If I can manage to fix these few hick ups, I will give this TT to one of my son.

First of all, congrats on a nice find. That is a surprisingly nice table.

My 505-4 had problems with the right channel cutting out when I first got it. Seems that the RCA cables are sub-par compared to the rest of the turntable. I just spliced a new end onto the bad cable to solve the problem. I'll replace the whole cable when I summon the courage.

The Ortofon OM series cartridges mate wonderfully with that arm. You can start with the OM-10 and upgrade just the stylus for an immediate improvement. The base stylus isn't too shabby either. This doesn't answer your question but it's a quick-fix, sure-thing.

Lastly, you can download a paper strobe from VE. I used one on my 505 and it appears to be lockstep with my quartz locked Pioneer PL-600. I wish that I could help with the other stuff but I'm just happy to chip in with anything at all for a change. After more than 1,000 posts, I realize that I know nothing at all!

If it is the RCA cables, that should not be a problem. I will try this approach next week, and replace them.

There is a strobe marking on the plate but no light to illuminate it????

The connectors the headshell area was giving me trouble this summer.
Check those section by section, several pins on my were oxidized ( corrosion? ).
The stylus may need replacing, but the cartridge is seldom at fault.

BTW. I was able to get replacement stylus locally for Dual DN155E stylus (app.$20.00).
I could look for you if you have trouble finding one for yours.

The strobe disc sits on the spinning platter and reacts to incandescent light. It's designed to interact with 60 Hz flicker so that when dialed-in, the bar(s) on the strobe disc appear to be standing still. Apparently the effect is even more pronounced with flourescent lights. That's not a very good explanation but it does work.

Did you use emery cloth to clean your pins or will Nexxtech Contact and Head Cleaner do as well.

I've found a couple places for a replacement stylus to fit this type of cartridge, but the cheapest was, $32.00US plus chipping from USA

OK, sorry about that, now I know what you're talking about.
I've seen them before, but did'nt pay too much attention at that time.

Yesterday I had adjusted the speed by ear alone, it did work fine, but unfortunately not 100% accurate..
