Help - only hissing sound from speakers

Was playing music on MA6100 for an hour or 2, suddenly the music stopped and I could hear only a loud hissing sound from both speakers. All I could think at that moment was to run and pull the cord from power socket. Once I did that, the speaker hissing did not immediately stop. It sort of steadily toned down in about 3 to 4 seconds.

I then attached my speakers to my Sansui and they worked perfectly. So nothing there. Cable no issues.

The MA6100 case was not smelly, smoky nor hot. Only the transformer/power supply was warm to slightly hot. It had been recently serviced and no issues found as such. Any heads up on what could have caused it?

My source was a Bluetooth receiver attached to my McIntosh. I will use the same receiver on Sansui and come back with results. Is that all you mean by 'check'?

If you mean switching to another input then coming back to the original input, then no, I have not tried that out yet. I am still not comfortable switching the power back on with the Mcintosh since the power supply was slightly hot. I have a bad history of electrical shocks as a kid, so I am first trying to see possible causes before I gather the courage to power on.

Tried this - the BT receiver is perfect on Sansui. So for now, speakers, BT receiver and cables are not an issue.

Try it again on the Mac, you may have had a Bluetooth glitch.

Did you accidentally stream a snake CD?

Do you get the same result if you use a different signal source on a different input?

Do you have anything else you can use to monitor a signal? If so, try to check the tape outputs. Are you getting any output there? If you remove the jumpers from preamp output to power amp input on the rear, do you get a signal from the preamp outputs?

I will try with another input - today being 32 degree F cold and fog in Colorado springs, with Halloween to top it off, I have decided to move all adventures to tomorrow . Thanks for the ideas Bob.
